The 5 storey Derby Hotel was originally built in 1968 and subsequently re-launched in the mid-90’s. Situated in a surprisingly quiet street, away from the bustle and energy of the city, the hotel is located in the heart of the commercial center.

Lying close to some of Barcelona’s main “Avenidas”, the relaunched Derby Hotel was conceived by a team of English-inspired designers, drawing on a combination of oiled hardwood panels, soft lighting and comfortably upholstered armchairs.

A combination of modern and classic design greets guests in the serene marbled lobby, scented with incense and decorated with contemporary art and classical Greek sculptures. Business guests make up the majority of the clientele, enjoying the hotel’s excellent facilities and convenient location. Art lovers can also appreciate the hotel’s impressive contemporary collection.
LOCATION
Derby Hote is located in L’Eixample, an elegant district of Barcelona near the business area and very well connected with the rest of the city.
PROPERTY AMENITIES
* Derby Restaurant:

This lower-level restaurant serves a varied buffet breakfast, fixed menu lunch and à la carte dinner. All meals feature traditional Mediterranean cuisine with a local Catalan influence. The fact that this room has no windows is more than adequately accommodated for boasting six original paintings by Joan Miró on the walls.

* Scotch Bar:

Dimly lit and comfortable, the Scotch Bar has an open fire that is regularly lit in cold weather. A wide ranging drinks selection featuring whiskeys, wines, and cocktails is available. Light snacks are also on offer and a separate street level entrance encourages outside visitors to join hotel guests.

* Coffee Shop:

With its entrance one door down from the hotel’s reception, this lively and bright coffee shop is widely used by locals and passers by as well as hotel guests. Alongside all the usual teas, coffees, pastries, wines, and beer, guests can choose to take their meals here rather than in the hotel’s main restaurant. A reduced price breakfast is also available as an alternative to the regular buffet.

* The hotel has two meeting rooms. The Salon Derby seats 50 people theater style and the Salon Epson seats a maximum of 25 people theater style. Both are fully equipped with audio-visual conferencing facilities and are decorated with contemporary artwork. The lobby-level business center has two computers with high-speed, wireless Internet access.
ROOM AMENITIES
* The hotel offers 116 rooms of different categories: junior suites, single and double rooms, including some non-smoking bedrooms. All of them are sound-proof and were renovated in 1998.

* All accommodations are equipped with heating and air conditioning with remote control, electronic mini safe, mini bar, direct dial telephone, radio and satellite TV. Moreover, all bedrooms feature a private bathroom with hairdryer, and some of them also have a private terrace.

* Pets are allowed in the guestrooms.
